About a mile from the Monastary

Here I am....  Still in the Sinai desert mountains.......
I think we are almost to our destination.....
I'll figure out what and where after that....
Sinai Peninsula.....   May 2009....

Looks like this bus is finally getting to wherever we are supposed to get to....

Must be getting somewhere....

My Temporary residence while in the area......
Clearest and most star filled skies at night I have ever seen anywhere......
You can feel that your in village in a mountain desert.... in the air......
Welcome to.... "About a mile from the Monastery"....
You do like camels...?   don't you...??

WHAT..??
Just because I'm on the side of a mounain......
High up in the desert somewhere in Asia.....
Does not mean I can't find a real bed......
You were expecting a campfire and a bedroll maybe......
Remember.....    I'm a passport carrying American Tourist.....
And I'm the only one for 1,000 miles around....
Besides....  I never get to sleep in this luxury anyway....
I just rented a room because it was offered for cheap.....
Plus.....
I did not know I would spend all night climbing a mountain in the dark....
Somehow......  I had not quite seen that one coming......

Location, Location, Location......
Location is everything in the Tourist bussiness.....
Also :
Since I don't know what they call this area.......
Either.... Mt. Moses or Mt. Sinai Village.....
Or St. Catherine Village or a couple other versions.....
( I think it does not translate properly)
It Is:  " ABOUT A MILE FROM THE MONESTARY"
Yes......   I think I like that name......

Bedouin Camp 2......
Way up in the mountains....
Way up in the desert.....
Way more fun than a motel....

Here's a great view of the office area at Bedouin Camp 2 .......
Sorta a firepit area for sitting and telling stories.....
Or for organizing that trip up the mountain in the morning....
Tourists groups even get way out here......
Mount Moses is a big draw.....
And a very long hike.....
So they tell me.....

When I'm not on the road and seeing the world.....
Exploring ancient Temples along the Nile....
Or wandering around in European Cathedrals....
When I'm not in Venice or Vienna.....
No Bavaria, Burgundy, or Brussels.....
Not,..... swimming in Monte Carlo.....
Or, wandering through Paris or Rome......
Well........
Gads......
I've always been planning another adventure......
Usually....
Of course ......  there is always.....
Snag fishing in the Bay.......
Or, .....naturally .....The famous T.V......
Maybe there's a spot on the floor I have not studied yet........
NAH.....
Just kidding........
There is no adventure without a balance to set it with......

SINAI DESERT

The Bedouin..... (an ancient desert nomad people).....  Hope I said that right....
This is their ancestral home......Their grandparents and theirs before that lived up here.......
I expect that is who live in Saint Catherine Village......   We'll see , .....if I make it that far....

HIGH IN THE SINAI FUN

This part of the Desert.....  The Sinai Desert.....  is high up in the mountains.....
More about rocks than sand..... but there is plenty of both..... and sun....lot's of sun....

Must be near the top of these mountains.......
Must be 110 outside this bus....
I'm staying inside....
Unless anyone sees a 7-11......

Is it the High Desert Heat.....?
Is it this sand blasted window....?

While we cross the desert.....

Say.....Is that power lines I see......
Over beyond those tough as nails trees....

Yes..... definetly power lines.....   We are getting to some where with power soon...

Now this is looking better......  Look at those palm trees....
I think we must be at the TOP of the passage through or something.....
Either way....  I tell you...  It's good to see some plants.....

The Sinai,  Mount Moses, The Red Sea.....

Yes,  Asia,  The whole trip was Asia....

Sometimes I even surprise myself.....

So.....

Africa.....
Asia....
Europe.....
North America........

Basically..... since I dont like super cold....

That only leaves 2 choices.......

AUSTRALIA......

or....

SOUTH AMERICA.....

Choices,...choices.....

WELL.....

NO.....  I'm not lost.....  I don't get lost on my adventures.....  unless I want to.....
It just turns out I'm in ASIA.......I just did not know that.... does not mean I'm lost.....
I'm sure I'm actually very close to AFRICA.....besides look out the window....
I'm obviously getting very close to SOMEWHERE......  how could I be lost...??

Been on this bus quite a while....

Must be expecting tourists someday....

Here's where they let us off the bus for awhile.....
Food and Tea.....  all desert style..... No Twinkies or M&M's.....
Lost most the others here..... But they say there is one more stop......
I don't know who would go any farther into the Desert......yukyuk....
Next stop is deep in the High Desert......  Saint Catherine and the Monestary.....
