Train Travels.....
In Germany.....
May 2008......
This is a very good example of the Rhineland......
Every time you turn a corner or a bend in the river......
This is what you see.......
A group of houses, a main street, church , etc. along the river.....
Always with a name you can't pronounce even if you spoke German...
Always with 1 or 2 castles looking down from the hills in the background....
Beautiful area and beautiful little towns left over from "FUEDAL" Germany of long ago.....
That's when every landowner built thier house like a castle.......
When a castle was it's own town, a stronghold, with rules, markets, and jails.....
With good pickens for the landowner who is king in his little kingdom......
All who didn't like it could go down the river.....
To the next little monarchy......
Who were almost always planning to take over or pillage some other little hamlet just up or down the river valley ........
BIG FUN.......
Back onto the train......in Middle Fraconia, Bavaria......
Let's see.... Berlin....Frankfurt.....Munchen.....or....Stuttgart...
How about you decide where I go this time......
You have four excellent choices......
Just check the box next to the city of your choice to vote......
I'll standby while the votes are tallied...........
Coming into Frankfurt Train Station......
This is one of the very few times while on a train trip through Europe that I did not have to get off and figure how to transfer to my next train......
We only stopped briefly, to pick up passengers, so me and the 3 or so other people on the whole train never even had to get off.....
Usaully it's transfer, transfer, then transfer again, to get to your transfer station......
The unreal amount of trains going in & out of major European city's is hard to grasp.....makes Chicago and Detroit look like the backwoods.......
